Best Blogs of the Week

Three posts this week.

  • Oppenheimer – Asset managers were very inclined to write about “the Fed” last week. They came fast and furiously. Related to the topic, I found this single chart the most valuable.
  • Russell – For any advisor with a potential client on the fence, this data can be helpful.
  • Wells Fargo – A plain-speak, straightforward post on bond investing? Yes indeed.

Best Blogs of the Week

Three unexpected topics this week. All relatively compelling.

  • BlackRock – Which FAs discussed Spain for investments in June? I’m guessing nearly none and so that makes this post a great conversation starter.
  • Franklin Templeton – This post describes the retail investor as not meaningfully taking part in the US equity rally. I feel the constant barrage of bull market messages so the idea that the message is largely hollow seems intriguing.
  • Invesco – For so long, investors sought out yield in fixed income. Yield anywhere, including MUNIs. So this post addresses the idea of MUNI investing going forward.

Best Blogs of the Week

We needed a week at BestBlog Central to collect ourselves. But now we’re back at full speed.

  • AllianceBernstein – This post makes a straightforward SMID investing case for FAs talking capital appreciation with their clients.
  • BlackRock – Great infographic on using minimum volatility.
  • Oppenheimer – Excellent analysis related to Emerging Market Debt volatility. Sounds like a tedious topic but actually was very interesting.
  • Russell – (Favorite of the last two weeks) Great post that considers stocks over bonds because of potential long-term return. I appreciate this post for describing the analytic process behind the headline.

Best Blogs of the Week

This week saw a tremendous uptick in blog quality (I added a 4th). And the plurality of posts were around Japan and the US Equity markets. There’s both demand for the topics and asset managers are not short of opinions/ideas there as well.

  • BlackRock – Matt Tucker takes the time to explain how bond indexes work, relative to the recent Apple offering. Pretty helpful for any FA that uses bond ETFs.
  • Columbia – This post provides the clearest Japanese economy breakdown with considerations.
  • Pioneer – I appreciate this post mostly because the second point counters most current industry thought leadership. While most preach avoiding the hunt for yield through global (aka risky) markets, the author provides some clarity on when taking that risk may be valuable.
  • Russell – Simple premise here: developed nations need infrastructure. If you agree, then this post walks through investing into that long-term need.

Best Blogs of the Week

Best Blogs took a week off and returned with the three best from the previous two weeks. Higher stakes!

  • Oppenheimer – This post (written in bullets!) provides 3 potential reasons why emerging market returns haven’t outpaced (the broader world market).
  • Pioneer – This post informs advisors on reasons behind a gold decline.
  • Russell – This post dispels a conventional wisdom with helpful charts. Any adviser used to fielding some of these calls can use this as a quick reference.
