Best Blogs of the Week

Crazy week. Blogs obviously not very important given the situation last Monday and Friday. We have two posts that are pretty fantastic, including one from a new firm: Invesco.

  • BlackRock – Nice, concise post on rotating through fixed income categories.
  • Invesco – Helpful post for FAs discussing interest rates with clients.

Best Blogs of the Week

This week had a strong contingent of thought-provoking, investment blog posts. These were difficult to choose. The industry’s blog posts are much better today than 12 months ago.

  • Columbia – Duration is a critical topic for yield seekers. This post is helpful for an FA having that discussion.
  • Pioneer – This post does a nice job of starting the discussion on what’s’ next for Europe and how does that impact the American investor.
  • Vanguard – The ETF expense chart in this post is helpful.

Positioning a New Product Family

New ETFs from firms with no ETF history. Prestigious long-only managers launching alternatives. Massive non-US banks entering the domestic asset management landscape. All seem to be occurring at a more frenetic pace than ever.

We’ve been supporting clients in these and similar situations. A client from last year mentioned Killian Branding during an engagement. And their post recently on customer service is very poignant. More broadly than this post, our advice for clients in these situations is to carefully study the providers with significant market share. The burden of the new entrant is to provide a new reason to do business with them. Paradoxically, it’s a burden and a great opportunity.
