Best Blogs of the Week

Congratulations! You made it to the end of the political season.

Three posts this week, two regarding the fiscal cliff.

  1.  BlackRock – Nice infographic on the fiscal cliff (ending with a product sell).
  2. Pioneer – This is the single best fiscal cliff blog post. Nothing to say except: READ.
  3. Russell – Fantastic idea – look at World Series results to predict the S&P.

Best Blogs of the Week

Hopefully everyone in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast is surviving with the proper rations and safety precautions. This week’s best blogs cover varying topics, with one politically-charged post.

  • AllianceBernstein – This post makes the case against high-dividend. The post made me think of this image.
  • AllianceBernstein – Well, does the US election matter?
  • American Century – This post discusses the impact on household formation on housing recovery (and the broader economic recovery).
  • Wells Fargo – I  appreciate one specific question in this interviewDoes an aging population favor bonds?

Best Blogs of the Week

As no surprise, we’ll see many more political blog posts throughout October. We’ll share them sparingly and this week there are none!

  • BlackRock – This post addresses a hot question: do advisors really use social media?
  • MFS – This post answers the important question: why are all these really massive companies holding so much cash on their balance sheets?
  • Pioneer – This short post recaps quickly survey data all over the Internet and with a thundering parenthetical at the end.
  • Russell – This post discusses a topic rarely covered: the investor with 2 or more FAs.

Best Blogs of the Week

As the fourth quarter begins, we see the blogging tempo increase at many firms. As a reader, it’s exciting to see so many posts on so many topics. We chose three very different posts as this week’s best.

  • American Century – This post recaps last September in bullets. It’s not the most scintillating or original, but the post is effective to help FAs digest the September rally.
  • Columbia – This post covers REITS and references the asset classes performance in 2012 (to-date). The author does a nice job providing three factors to consider if  an FA’s clients are invested in REITS.
  • Franklin Templeton -I have an affinity for articles and books that discuss bias. This post covers availability bias nicely. Worth a read.
